To make this bib I started out with this pattern and altered it.
The Cotton Dishcloth (Once Removed or Dressed Up!)

Rating: Easy - Medium
Materials: 1 ball worsted weight cotton yarn, size 7, 8, 9 or 10 US needles. (7 gives a tight knit that is still soft, yet scrubs) (I used 7s)
Instructions:
Cast on 15 stitches
Row 1 and all odd rows: K across.
Row 2: K3, YO, K to last st, turn.
Row 4: K3, YO, K to last 2 sts, turn.
Row 6: K3, YO, K to last 3 sts, turn.
Row 8: Bind off 3 sts, K2, YO, K to last 4 sts, turn.
Row 10: K3, YO, K to last 5 sts, turn.
Row 12: K3, YO, K to last 6 sts, turn.
Row 14: Bind off 3 sts, K2, YO, K to last 7 sts, turn.
Row 16: K3, YO, K to last 8 sts, turn.
Row 18: K3, YO, K to last 9 sts, turn.
Row 20: Bind off 3 sts, K across row.

To make the bib:
knit this 20row repeat 5 times.
To make Strap:
BO the first 9 stitches so that only 6 stitches remained on the needles
Knit garter stitch for approximately 5-6 inches.
To make Button Hole
row 1 k1, k2tog, YO twice, SSK, k1
row 2 k2, KFB of YO, k2 row 3 knit
row 4 BO
The size is about 0-9 mos.

This is a lovely pattern.. I think it could be adapted to make a lovely shawl too.

A question: how could I make this bib for my 1 year old daughter? I tried using size 9 needles and it does make it a bit bigger and looser.

I found your bib pattern on Ravelry, and linked to here. I had to laugh when I read in your profile that you are trying to stop cursing. I have been trying to do that, myself. It's not as easy as it would seem! Actually, when I stop to think about it, I believe I have been trying to stop cursing for about 17 years!! I tend to beat myself up when I "slip", yet I do keep trying!(lol)

Do I wrap when turning my short row? Or is the hole created, by not wrapping, part of the pattern?

No, in the pattern you dont do a wrap and turn. That's how the hole is created. If you dont want a hole you can do a wrap and turn! Its up to you! But it may affect the end result of how well it forms a circle.

I'm from UK so yarn is named differently...is worsted weight the same as chunky? And if I used 2 strands of baby cashmerino would that do the same job?
When I say beginner I mean like 3wks into knitting lol, I've knitted a baby cardigan, a pair of baby Mary-Janes, a headband and this bib will be my 4th item knit, can't wait to see if my skills are good enough for this bib, it is SO CUTE!!!! Doing ur manly bib next!! How do I send u pix on here? Do u have Facebook for ur "fans" as I know exactly how THAT works lol!
Chunky is not the same as worsted weight. Its bigger.
Worsted weight is 10 ply. I'm not sure how its described in the UK.

I adore this pattern and am trying to make one for a dear friend's new grandbaby. I'm a fairly new knitter as far as working with patterns. Is this what's called "short rows"? I've never done that.

I was looking for something to do with a large ball of cotton yarn that someone gave me and this would be perfect. Make it all up in bibs and save for showers. Also, it must be a cancer thing, cause I'm sarcastic, brutally honest (I have been told), share too many opinions, and can be a lots emotional.I also enjoy crochet, needlepoint, knitting in public, and baking. Hi Cheryl, sorry, but I seem to be the only one confused here..... when you say, k to the last 2 (or 3, 4, 5, etc) stitches then turn.... what happens to those stitches? I have repeated the pattern 4 times and I keep on increasing the stitches.... what am I doing wrong?

At the end of the bib you have instructions on making the strap. It seems you forgot a step. Before you go on to make the strap you need to knit a row otherwise the strap will be at the wrong end.

I was also confused on that part but I figured it out...you knit til 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 stitches take your working yarn and bring it in between your two needles then turn and continue knitting til the end of the row. You know you have done it right if you have the proper amount of stitches on needle 16 or 17 or 18...not sure if this is the proper way to do it as I am a newer knitter but it works. Great pattern so cute and fast project once you get the hang if it. Hope this helps.
When you turn to knit the remaining stitches at the end of the row is that the same as knitting all odd numbered rows or do you do that separately?
