Football Bib

This is what I've been working on! I think its adorable. Sorry for the really bad button. But ya know....I didn't have anything better. ps, the football can be knit without the strap. : )


Yarn:
2 balls Sugar N Cream, brown and white. The white I had as left overs. You really dont need much. The final product is about 7 inches long.

size:
nb-9months

Needles:
size 7 straights

stitches:
m1a: make 1 away
m1t: make 1 toward

sski: slip slip knit improved.  (slip 1 knitwise, slip 1 purlwise, knit  through the back loops)

Pattern:

CO5
brown
r1 -all odd            k1, m1a, k to last st, m1t, k1
r2 -all even          k1, p to last st, k1
                                continue until there are 11 sts
white
r1 -all odd            k1, m1a, k to last st, m1t, k1
r2 -all even          k1, p to last st, k1
                                continue until there are 15 sts
brown
r1 -all odd            k1, m1a, k to last st, m1t, k1
r2 -all even          k1, p to last st, k1
                                continue until there are 23 sts

continue in stockinette st pattern for another 2 inches or for another 10-14 rows. Whatever you want. 
                **Make sure to knit the first and last st of every wrong side row.
               
r1 -all odd            k1, sski, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1
r2 -all even          k1, p to last st, k1
                                continue until there are 17 sts
white
r1 -all odd            k1, sski, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1
r2 -all even          k1, p to last st, k1
                                continue until there are 13 sts
               
brown
r1 -all odd            k1, sski, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1
r2 -all even          k1, p to last st, k1
                                continue until there are 5 sts
BO

finishing:
sew in some stripes for the ball laces.
strap
pick up 5 stitches just right of left white stripe.
knit for desired length
button hole at the end.
k1, sski, yo2, k2tog.
BO
This may need to be blocked.

Hi I love this pattern so much!!! Thank you for posting this. I think I have knitted this about 10 times and still can't seem to get it right. I am using this right sized needles and yarn but I can't get the shape in the picture. It seems to turn into more of a round shape like a baseball not a football shape. ..any suggestions would be great. Thanks
